Secret Girl Stuff: From Sydney to Melbourne Fringe

In a series of deeply confessional vignettes Secret Girl Stuff connects audiences to the invisible string that is the female experience. A cast of 6 women and 1 man bring into the light that of the various corners of girlhood and womanhood and reflect on what it means to be female. Through the kaleidoscope of a book all about the wonders and upsets of puberty, a bag of Sour Patch Kids, an iPhone alarm, a blow up sex doll and a communal bed; our characters are instead actualised rather than fictionalised.

Secret Girl Stuff was performed as a part of the 2023 Sydney Fringe Festival and sold out all performances, performed as a part of Flightpath Theatre's 2024 season and finished its tour as a part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival. The production was nominated for Melbourne Fringe awards such as "Best ensemble in the Melbourne Fringe Festival", "Leading production in the Melbourne Fringe Festival" and "Best Writer in the Melbourne Fringe Festival". The production received rave reviews but is best known for it's ability to connect audiences to the material being performed.

"Groundbreaking. This is the sex education I wish I had." - Sydney Theatre Reviews

"Hearing “I’m not scared of what’s growing inside of me, but myself…” led many audience members to nod in affirmation, as some mothers can be reluctant to articulate their fears about the drastic changes to their lives post-childbirth." - Honi Soit

“Secret Girl Stuff presented by Cats in the Cupboard Productions, is an enthusiastic and thought-provoking show that tackles the complexities of womanhood with grit. The themes are timely, and the execution is powerful." - Thetheatre.au

"Angel Samu felt like mother earth – grounding and strong. Madi Hough broke my heart and Lycia Gunawan put it together again. Ella Earle was believable, and assured the audience that they were safe with her. Izzy Azzopardi brought some energy and spice to the performance and Sophie Persson showed a depth of understanding to each scene that she was in. Pavan, somehow managed to come across charming whilst playing unlikeable characters in almost every vignette he was in." - Theatre Travels

"Corrigan’s direction to the actresses is sharp, as she gives a voice to the complicated journey of girlhood to womanhood." - Bacchus at the Theatre
