Creative Cats Drama

A playful and empowering drama program for kids aged 5–12.

Founded by theatre makers Mikaela Corrigan and Nicholas Pavan, Creative Cats Drama teaches children K-6 important life skills by blending imaginative play with technical drama craft to spark self-expression, confidence, public speaking and teamwork in a safe and empathy in an inclusive and freeing space.

Whether your child loves the spotlight or just needs a place to explore their creativity, we’re here to help them shine. Children deserve to be silly, bold, and brilliant and our program is designed to nurture that part of children whilst helping them become the best version of their wonderful selves.

Our Teachers:

Mikaela and Nick both have a valid National Police Check, Working With Children’s Check and a First Aid Certificate and have completed education at a tertiary level centred around the performing arts and education. Both teachers have extenstive NSW Government Standard training in child protection and child wellbeing as well as previous experience with young people on the autism spectrum and those who live with a disability.

Primary Objectives

Objective and How We Operate:

Creative Cats Drama utilises the NSW Board of Studies Creative Arts K-6 curriculum of making, performing and appreciating whilst adding our own unique spin on it. Drama is not only a creative outlet but it instills the necessary tools within a child’s mind to make something they are proud of, perform something to promote self confidence and appreciate the different forms of artistry that they will come across in their lifetime. Our goal is to create an environment free of judgement that is a way for children to develop their everyday life and social skills through a combination of creative play and theatrical self expression.

Empathy, Creativity and Increased Confidence

What do our classes look like?

Think of our classes like hiding veggies in spaghetti - we provide unique learning opportunities to develop important life skills through drama and the best bit? The kids will never feel like they're in the classroom! Creating a low stake environment that engages meaningful discussions and activities, drama is able help children create their own work and enjoy being silly and exploring their creative side all whilst learning empathy, teamwork, leadership and so much more!

The benefits of enrolling your child in a drama program:

We believe that when a child says, "I want to act." or "I want to do drama." there may be some hidden meaning in their dramatic declaration. We believe they are saying, "I want someone to see me for me."

Creative Cats Drama has seen children enter the room shy and lacking confidence within themselves and within only a few lessons, our teachers have witnessed them grow into self assured and confident young people who have zero problems completing speeches at school, making new friends or simply becoming more talkative and engaged in class discussions. Allow drama magic into your child's life and watch them become a person who is confident, engaged in discussions and can successfully articulate their emotions. The gift of drama is the gift of being seen.
